We are having a busy end to the year. Last night our year 6 students enjoyed their graduation at the Swan Yacht Club. It was hugely enjoyed by everyone. Our graduating students all spoke extremely well. They highlighted their amazing journey at Richmond , the friendships their have forged and the learning opportunities they had been given. It was clearly evident how special they have found their time at this well loved school. We wish them well at high school and will miss them all.
The end of term 4 marks an end of an era at Richmond PS. We officially say goodbye to our Principal, Mrs Dentith, after 17 years. We also say farewell to Miss Gaskin after 49 years. We will be acknowledging them both at a special staff function this evening. The students will be saying goodbye to Miss Gaskin at the final assembly next Wednesday.
Special mention to Mr Tifflin and Mrs Button who have both stepped up into the deputy role this term. Thank you for your professionalism, organisation and downright hard work!
You may have noticed a beautiful mural outside the pre-primary /year one area. This mural was created by Jade Dolman. Jade is a Whadjuk/Balladong Nyoongar (Mother’s side), Eastern Arrernte (Father’s side) woman from Perth. She is a visual artist and remains connected to her culture through painting and family. Her art work reflects the six Nyoongar seasons and associated bush tucker. We were very privileged to listen to Jade speak about the Nyoongar six seasons story and share her own personal connection to country.
A huge thank you to Mrs Sorrell for once again coordinating the Festive Foodbank Drive. We had a tremendous community response with over 436kg of donations!
Please note that over the break we will be resurfacing our school oval. Our contractors will be removing the existing turf on 20th December and installing the new turf on 5th January. This is a huge job but well overdue. Mt Thorogood is looking forward to moving out of the current sandpit.
Thank you to Aoife Lannon, our P&C President, and the P&C. They have been very busy this year organising some very memorable events such as; the massive centenary fair, dads’ camp and bike ride, waterslides, cake stalls, disco, DoRks café, The Richmond Cup, school carnival canteen, the sundowner and the big breakfast.
Thanks too, to Lacey Filipich, our School Board Chair, and the school board who met each term. They reviewed finances and policy. The board was given a glimpse into the teaching and learning program, the learning environment, student performance, relationships and partnerships, leadership and resourcing.
Thank you to our community for your strong support this year.
I really enjoyed working with our happy students and our amazing staff.
I would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a relaxing holiday. Be safe over the break and we will see you in all 2022.
