1st March 2022

It has been a busy time with the likelihood of further disruption over the next few months as the state moves into high caseloads.

The Education Department has reviewed the reporting process and we can now communicate much earlier to parents when a positive case is reported. I understand the frustration whilst waiting for official communication to be sent and the disruption this can cause for families. Please contact a member of the Admin Team if you have any queries or concerns which may alleviate any misinformation which may be shared through social media or chat groups.

Masks

The latest directives mean our students in Year 3 and above will now need to wear a mask indoors at school. The usual exemptions apply, such as removing the mask to eat, drink, take medicine or do vigorous exercise. Masks continue to be recommended for outdoors where physical distancing is not possible. It is important to understand there are students at school who have an exemption, which will be discussed with the students at a general level. We will seek to centralise all updates for easier access for parents as I also understand the information overload that is occurring.

Isolating Classes

Classes who are isolating have been supplied work and the staff are monitoring emails and communicating with parents and students. Siblings who are also isolating are being accommodated with work, however staff are still focussing on face-to-face teaching.

Postponed Events

We have made the decision to reschedule the following events until later in the year after consultation with partners schools.

In consultation with partner schools who are facing similar challenges the following events have been postponed until later in the year if we can secure a venue.

Swimming

3rd March Swimming Trials

29th March House Swimming Carnival

7th April Interschool Swimming Carnival

10th March Multisport Carnival

We will endeavour to provide alternative opportunities for students later in the year

On a positive note, the students from all years have been visiting my office to show great artwork and super writing and they are all still skipping into school. Our focus will be to normalise the program and continue to celebrate the amazing talents at Richmond. A link will be sent home to this week’s assembly on Friday morning and we would like to hear the Richmond song from all streets. Go well!

School photographs

School photographs are scheduled for next week. Thank you to those who have completed the online ordering process. Photographs, including sibling photographs, have been divided over two days – Tuesday 8th March and Friday 11th March. Please click here for a detailed timetable.

Noongar Appreciation Board

Hi, we have created a Noongar Appreciation Board. Each week there will be a new word in Noongar for students to learn. This weeks word of the week is Bunuru, this means second Summer. Bunuru is the hottest time of the year with little to no rain.

We hope that everybody will take the time to learn a new word each week.

Thank you!
