2nd November

Wow, it was amazing to see the generosity from both parents and students last Friday as they recognised World Teachers’ Day. The staff really appreciated the recognition and were overwhelmed with a morning tea, flowers, personalised cards and presents.  This really highlights what a special place Richmond Primary School is.

Well done to our P&C for coordinating another successful student disco last Friday. There was a tremendous turn out with just over 276 students. Thank you to all the parents, student councillors and staff for volunteering their time to make it a special event.

Construction of additional car bays will begin this week on both Windsor and Osborne Road. Programmed Facility Management will be cordoning off the affected grassed areas. We have been given a timeline of approximately 4 weeks to complete the project.

Well done to all our interschool athletes who recently represent Richmond at the MDISSA athletics carnival. Mr Thorogood said the team demonstrated great team spirit as many students were asked to fill in for those that were injured or absent. Congratulations to Elli R, year 5, who was awarded champion girl.

Most parents at Richmond are aware of the closure the Fremantle Leisure Centre due to the storm damaged they experienced two weeks ago. This closure has meant that the Department of Education have been forced to find an alternative venue for our year 1-3 swimming lessons scheduled to start next week. The DoE has not given us an alternative venue at this late stage.  Please continue to use the current permission slip on our website. I am hoping to notify the year 1 -3 cohort with the new venue as soon as possible. If parents are not happy with the new venue you will have an opportunity to remove your consent. Thank you for your understanding.

Over the past week I have received three notifications from the wider community and the Town Council about students at our school engaging in acts of offsite graffiti, specifically at the East Fremantle Football Club. I have directed these members of the public to the police as graffiti is a criminal act.  The police are currently investigating these reports. It would be beneficial if you were able to discuss the seriousness of graffiti with your child.
