30 November 2020

As we approach the much anticipated long Christmas break, we are working hard to fit everything in so that we end the year smoothly.

It’d be fantastic if everyone could have a look here:  letters and forms to check that they have filled in everything that applies to their child/ren.

Some of the key documents are: the application form to roll over from kindergarten to pre-primary; the personal items lists for 2021 and the year 3 zoo excursion slip.

This Friday the P&C are running their popular after school waterslides afternoon.  All personal hygiene measures (hand sanitiser, physical distancing) will apply.  Hot dogs will be individually served.  Children will need to get a ticket online, then bring it to the office to exchange for a wristband that they must wear to access the slides.

Next week it’s graduation at the Swan Yacht club. Their COVID capacity allows two adults per child. All the information is here:  graduation.

Also next week are our year P-2 edu-dance concerts. In response to requests to try to accommodate more parents we have moved to two smaller back-to-back concerts instead of one bigger concert. The revised information is here: edu-dance concert.

This week and next week at lunchtimes, the student council is holding auditions for Richmond’s Got Talent.  Acts may audition on any day that suits them.

Our P&C has been somewhat stymied this year due to COVID restrictions, and I know everyone has missed the opportunity to socialise at one of their usual popular events. They continue to try to think of ingenious fundraising ideas though and I thank them and encourage you to support their current wine fundraiser, just in time for Christmas.

Many thanks to staff and parents who have been involved in organising some big events recently. To Mr Tifflin for leading the year 6 camp to Bridgetown – a massive task – and to Mrs Sorrell for leading fifty bike-riding year 4s into Fremantle. These kinds of operations take a lot of planning and responsibility. Both were a huge success.  Thank you.

Finally, if your child is leaving at the end of the year, please could you email us so that I have accurate numbers to plan 2021 classes.  As you know our numbers are going up at a fast rate. I have ordered a demountable classroom, but we will still be totally full, with so many families returning from overseas and interstate due to COVID.  It is proving incredibly difficult to plan accurate class structures, so thank you for any helpful information you can provide.

Enjoy the week!
