Dear Parents and Caregivers

I have really enjoyed the first week at Richmond, meeting the students and parents. Please feel free to grab me in the playground if you have a query or just want to introduce yourself. (Hopefully I will have a badge soon)

The Student Councillors have hit the ground running addressing the online assembly this morning and supporting students in the playground. Please see below the most recent information from the Education Department in regard to whole school gatherings. We will work towards adapting our operations as necessary to ensure we maintain compliance.

The Chief Health Officer has advised that schools should limit in-school gatherings of students and staff to class groups or small groups within a year level. This is to minimise the number of students or staff impacted by the presence of a positive case.

At this stage, it is not necessary for us to postpone or cancel infrequent special events, such as interschool carnivals, camps, or school balls. As previously announced, further public health measures may be stepped up in line with high caseloads in the community which WA is not yet experiencing.

I do appreciate parents respecting all the protocols and we will continue to have a common sense approach, whilst ensuring we are compliant to all directives. I can confirm that there are parents with exemptions from wearing masks.

Many teachers have sent out Introduction Letters and parents can request interviews, which again may be on different platforms as well as face to face. It is important that communications processes are in place and understood by parents.

We will continue to provide your child with quality teaching and learning as we take sensible and proportionate actions to respond to the changing environment we are living in with COVID-19.

Have a ripping weekend and hopefully get some swimming in over the next day or so.

Regards

Dale Mackesesy
