Blog 23 October 2019

One of the most loved Richmond social events is the big breakfast.  It’s a chance for families to socialise before work, in our beautiful quadrangle. There is a big breakfast this Friday, 25 October, from 7.30am to 8.30am, and everyone is warmly invited to drop in.  I have posted the details on Facebook and the event is on our website calendar.  And yes, there is a coffee van! Thanks to Chris and Tony for organising.

Friday looks like a busy day. Following the big breakfast, there will be an assembly with a performance by rooms 12 and 13, and later that morning, the year 6 graduation photograph will be taken. It is also World Teachers Day – an opportunity to recognise and appreciate our teachers.

Parents are very welcome to come along on Thursday November 7 to see the Hon Sue Ellery, MLC, Minister for Education and Training, officially open our new administration building. We will have a short ceremony in the quad from 10.15am, at which the Minister will speak and the chorale will sing.

Personal items lists, aka booklists, for 2020 are now available. For next year we are using Ziggies, a WA owned and operated business.  If you order online before 20 December 2019, they will provide free delivery to your home, or you can elect to collect your order from their shop.  To order online, you will need these codes:  School code for home delivery: RICD       School code for collect from shop: RIC    Password: ZZY233

Here is the link to order: booklists.ziggies.net.au

Paper order forms are available from the office if you prefer to use a hard copy.

The Dads of Richmond Kids Billy Cart race is on Sunday 17 November. All the information is on the DoRKS page here: Billy cart race

The P&C is seeking a canteen manager for 2020. If you have an interest in finding out more about this school-hours, part-time job, please let us know by email: Richmond.PS@education.wa.edu.au

We will have a film crew at school on the afternoon of November 5, using our site to shoot some advertisements for a local food box delivery company. They are seeking interested children to be in the adverts. If this sounds like something you’d like your child to take part in, please click here for more information.   Apparently the advert will be shown, amongst other places, at the Perth KISS concert… sounds exciting!  Parents of selected students are welcome to attend the filming.

Finally, we wish our interschool athletics team the best of luck for the carnival next week. Have fun, play fair and do your best.  Remember to give yourself the best chance by eating healthily every day, sleeping at least eight hours every night and exercising daily. These are the things all of our students need to be doing to be at their optimum capacity for learning every day.

Hope to see you at Friday’s breakfast,

Lisa Dentith.
