Welcome to term 4. It was lovely to see everyone again this morning looking excited and happy.
The year twos will tell you that the fairy garden next to room 11 has grown over the holidays, with more opportunities for creative play. The new soft fall around the climbing frame looks great and, when we have planted around it, will look like a sandy island.
The new administration building is almost finished, with final painting this week, and we hope to move in by week 3. The Hon Sue Ellery, MLC, Minister for Education and Training, will officially open the building on November 7, along with Ms Lisa O’Malley MLA, Member for Bicton.
The always-fun annual Dads of Richmond Kids Billy Cart race is coming up on Sunday 17 November. I know lots of children have been building carts or dusting off their cart from last year. All the information is on the DoRKS page here: BILLYCARTS
Our new visual art specialist, Clare Perkins, will be leading year 3 and 4 students in the construction of a jelly fish for an exhibition to be held at the Fremantle Markets during National Recycling Week, which is 11-17 November. It’d be great if students could bring in a see-through soft plastic bag (like the ones in the fruit and veg section at supermarkets) to contribute to the sculpture, which will highlight the issue of single use plastic.
We will be sending a Richmond team to the Interschool Athletics carnival on 29 and 30 October at Bateman PS. Students in the team, selected following our school carnival at the end of last term, have all brought notes home.
Finally, to start the term on a fantastic note, take a look at this uplifting video of our athletics carnival, courtesy of Thomas Hofmann. What a great day it was! Click ‘watch on vimeo’ and enter the password that has been sent to you via CONNECT.
Happy first week back,
