Blog 26 November 2018

Thank you to everyone who has brought in non-perishable food items for our Foodbank Christmas collection. Our target was 1000 items and we have reached that in six days so we will keep the drive open for a bit longer and see how much more we can collect for needy WA families.

Look out for our Facebook photos of the talent quest finals, the spelling bee finals and the chess finals – all coming up soon.

Thank you to the team behind the movie arts night last week – it was a big turn-out of families on a lovely, warm night. The student art looked beautiful, the movie was entertaining, the pizzas (145 sold!) were delicious and the impromptu dance party at the end was a lot of fun.  Thank you to everyone for supporting this popular event.

The final P&C event for the year will be water slides on the oval on Friday 7 December – straight after school. Students are permitted to wear their boardies all day!  Tickets are available from tidyhq. Go to:

https://rpspc.tidyhq.com/public/schedule/events/22360-waterslide-day

Students will need to take their ticket to Lara, from next week, to get a wristband to wear on the day to access the water slides.

Semester 2 reports will be sent home electronically using CONNECT, so it is important that all parents can access it.  Please contact Lara should you experience difficulty.

If you download the CONNECT NOW APP you need only log in once, which makes life a lot easier.

From our School Council:

This year, the School Council introduced the Parent Speaker Pool. This is a programme where parents nominate to speak to a class or classes during the year.  Teachers nominate who they’d like to speak and it’s arranged at a mutually convenient time.

We have had parents talk about their job and their experiences and their travels and their sporting or other achievements. We have had parents speak about what they’ve learnt – lessons hard won. We have had parents teach explicit skills like sign language.  The feedback has been wonderful. From the kids, teachers and parents who have been involved.

If you’d like to put your hand up to be part of our programme for 2019, please email me at: parenttalentpoolrps@gmail.com  Just give me a few lines on your background and what you’d like to speak on. Include your email and best phone number to get you on, and I’ll be in touch.

Many thanks to all the parents who have volunteered so far. It’s been a really wonderful experience.
