Blog 27 February 2019

As we near the end of swimming lessons for years 4-6, we look forward to our school swimming carnival.  This will now be on Thursday March 21 at Fremantle pool from 9.00am-12pm. The date has been changed by request of the pool following them having a double booking, so I really hope parents are still available to come to watch.  Time trials are this Friday.

School photographs will be taken by Kapture on Thursday 14 March. A school code and student code will be sent home with each student next week. When you get your two codes, please order online at https://www.kapture.com.au. You may place an order at any time for the remainder of the year however a $15 fee to Kapture will apply if you order more than 10 days after photography day.

Kapture can only accommodate 30 families for sibling photos, so this is first booked, first served.  All students will be photographed for school records and included in class shots. If you prefer that your child is not in the photo shoot, please could you let Lara know on 9339 5055.

A number of private users have requested to lease our premises this year.  Our School Board signs off on all agreements and we try very hard to accommodate everyone, which is not always simple. This year OSHClub, Bicton Netball Club and Marshall’s Tennis Academy have all requested to lease the courts so the School Board had to organise compromises. I have put information about what is being offered outside school hours on our website under the parent and community tab.

Our Dads and Kids Camp will be on the oval from 5pm on Saturday 16 March.  It’s a valuable opportunity for dads or father figures to spend time with their children, putting up the tent, cooking tea and playing games.  It is also a chance for dads to get to know each other.  On Sunday morning, breakfast will be provided and a coffee van has been booked.  Camp will wind up from about 9.00am.  The cost is $30 per family, registrations are required and should be completed online – just go to rpspc.tidyhq.com and select Events.

The camp is intended for Richmond students; regrettably siblings who aren’t currently enrolled here are not able to attend. If you would like to come but don’t have any camping equipment, then get in touch with the Dads of Richmond Kids group and they will be happy to find you some. For more information please contact Mike Slattery on 0468 615 446 or email mikeslattery346@hotmail.com.

Our canteen would love everyone to order online as that really cuts down labour in the canteen.  They would also love you to volunteer one day.  Also, please could I ask everyone to remind children that they are not to share any food as lots of our children have allergies. The canteen online ordering link is on our website under the parents and community tab.

The School Board will hold its AGM on Tuesday 5 March after school in the library.  For more information about the board, please see the School Board section of our school website under the our school tab.

Year 3 and 5 Naplan testing will start with writing on Tuesday 14 May. The timetable will be posted on our website closer to the time.  Students will bring an information flyer home next week.

Finally, every two years, all government schools conduct surveys to gauge student, staff and parent satisfaction with the school.  I will send the parent survey link out on CONNECT next week.

Enjoy the long weekend,

Lisa Dentith
