Blog 3 December 2018

As the end of the year fast approaches, we are looking forward to this Friday with waterslides on the oval straight after school. Many thanks to the P&C organisers.  Students are permitted to wear their boardies all day.  Tickets are available from tidyhq. Students need to bring their ticket to Lara to get a wristband to wear on the day to access the water slides. Details are on our website calendar or for tickets, go to:

Semester 2 reports will be sent home electronically using CONNECT next week, so it is important that all parents can access it.  Everyone has been emailed a log in and password. Please contact Lara should you experience difficulty.  If you download the CONNECT NOW APP you need only log in once, which makes life a lot easier.

Final offers are being made for instrumental music in years 5 in 2019/20.  I am able to offer five places in each of flute, brass and clarinet. All year 4 students had an aural test. The top 25 moved on to specific instrument aptitude testing and the top five for each instrument are being offered places in the Instrumental Music program. This is a two-year commitment. We look forward to hearing them perform.

Final offers are also being made to year 2 students to join a John Curtin College of the Arts string program in year 3, 2019.

Our chorale will perform at the annual East Fremantle Pioneer Luncheon for long term residents of East Fremantle today. This is organised by the ToEF.  It is always loved by both the pioneers and by our students.  At the start of every year, our music teacher Mrs Bertolini, auditions students for the chorale.

Our gardening club cookbook has gone on sale for $2 from the office. Thanks to all involved.

The last day for school banking is Wednesday December 5th. They will have a Christmas celebration.  This will be Liann and Katrina’s last day –  thanks to both for a wonderful job!  Liann has been co-ordinating the program for 4.5 years.

Finally, at assembly we watched a beautiful Christmas show from year 1, talent quest winners performed and our spelling bee champions were awarded their trophies.  Thanks to room 2 parents whose cake stall raised $369.60, which Natalee will use for Christmas craft. Have a look at our Facebook page for recent photos.

Our communication channels for 2019 are:

  1. Connect (Connect Now App) for school and classroom news
  2. Website (calendar of events, general information, newsletter, Facebook feed)
  3. Facebook for photographs of events

Have a good week,

Lisa Dentith
