We have this week transitioned to NBN and our phone number has changed. The new main school number is: 9438 8700. Telstra has arranged a redirection service on our old number for six months.
Inter-school winter sport begins this week and Richmond will be fielding teams in netball, soccer and AFL. The teams are predominantly year 6 students, back-filled where possible with year 5 students. Netball is played here at Richmond. Soccer and AFL play at Henry Jeffrey / Wauhop. The games are on Friday afternoons from 1.30pm. Spectators are welcome, and please let us know if you are interested in umpiring a game or two.
Author Alison Lester is visiting us next week. She will be reading her books and drawing illustrations with junior (year 1-year 2) students. It will be very exciting for them to meet her.
The School Board is holding an open parent meeting in the library this Thursday at 2.00pm to discuss uniform options and ideas. If you’d like to contribute an idea or hear the discussion, please feel encouraged and welcome to join in. The more ideas the better.
Our student Environment Team is operating their recycled uniform stall from the undercover on assembly Fridays – please visit them for recycled items for a gold coin donation. Purchases may be made just before or after assembly.
Our alumni list is growing – have a look at some of the names of former students on the ‘former students’ tab on our website under ‘parents and community’…Jack Sheedy is one of them. It’d be fantastic if you could encourage former students that you know of to sign up. It’s so interesting.
2020 kindergarten enrolments opened last week and are pouring in – we have 36 already. The deadline for applications is July.
NAPLAN for years 3 and 5 is next week and the week after. See my blog of 29 April for dates and the demonstration site link. Tests are in the mornings.
Happy Mothers’ Day to our Richmond mums! The Dads of Richmond Kids will be serving free coffee to you in the quad on Friday at drop off, to say thank you! Yes, that was free coffee!!
The P&C had a successful meeting last week with good attendance. Many thanks to everyone who went along. Their next event is a Mums’ Night Out on 16 May at the Duke of George jazz bar. They are seeking raffle prizes / donations from local or family businesses.
UPDATE: We are NOT a polling station on May 18th, but our P&C will run a sausage sizzle and cake stall at Wauhop Park.
A dads and kids bike ride to Point Walter and back will be on the day after the election, Sunday 19 May. Riders should meet at Zephyrs for a 3pm start. The ride will end with a family wind up at SYC at 5.00pm. Call Matt for info: 0439 970 262.
There will be an information session about anxiety for parents and caregivers in the school library on Thursday 30th May, 7.00-8.00pm. The speaker will discuss the signs and symptoms of anxiety, some of the risk and protective factors for healthy emotional development, strategies to build resilience in the family and online, public and private support services available.
The P&C Quiz Night will be at the East Fremantle Yacht Club on 14 June. Class reps are coordinating a raffle basket for each class. Information to follow closer to the night.
