Newsletter Term 3 Week 6

There was a great community atmosphere around the Book Week parade with some well thought out costumes that captured the spirit of the week.

Book Week at Richmond Primary School

What a wonderful week we had at Richmond Primary School during book week.

Each class enjoyed the lovely activities that were offered in the library as well as perusing the Notable and Shortlisted Children’s Book Week Council books. Each week the lower classes have been reading the Shortlisted picture books, with varied opinions on the winner.

On Wednesday, we had a fabulous Book Week Parade with Lisa O’Malley in attendance. Ms O’Malley presented a lovely book to William Richardson for his fantastic book character, David Attenborough.

The students’ participation was excellent, and the characters were very diverse.  Thanks to all Parents and caregivers who provided moral support and help with the costumes. All the students had a great morning.

The Student Councillors were excellent, and with the help from Mr Tifflin provided us with a flawless parade. A big thank you to Mrs Kiera Appel who did a wonderful job of producing Pig the Pug characters for each of the student councillors. They have set the bar very high for the 2024 parade.

Also, a big Fie Fi Fo Fum to our “friendly” Giant, Mr Mackesey, Jack (Dave) and a far too young mother (Erika), and all the cast of the Jack and the beanstalk. Thanks teachers great work once again.

Data Information Evening

The School Board hosted an evening, which was well attended by parents. Mrs Holst-Marsh went through the development of our Business Plan, which sets out the schools broad planning for the next three years. Mr Carder also presented information about how standardised testing is used to inform teacher programs and annual whole school planning. Thanks for Jane Tandy for organising the evening and we are planning future events for interested parents.  Cheers P&C

The Gardening Club

The first buds are appearing on trees and the Gardening Club aided by our very generous P&C have been busy planting Spring vegetable’s. Michelle arranged a team from Bunnings who donated their time, planter boxes and gardening equipment for the garden which soon be in full bloom. The P&C are also organising a Busy Bee to get the grounds looking great for the upcoming warmer weather.

We would also love to see parents and grandparents (please remember to bring your Working With Children Check)

Tea Towels

There has been a huge take-up for the Tea Towel Fundraiser which is reflective of the quality of the art our students are producing. Our thanks go out to both Mrs Driscoll, and Kelly from the P&C for making it all happen.

A Message from Our School Councillors

Dear Parents and Guardians

We were very happy to see that almost everyone dressed up as a book character for the annual book week on Wednesday 23 August, which was a great experience for the younger kids (and big kids too). We were also very privileged to have the representative for Bicton MLA, Lisa O’ Malley come and witness our fantastic book parade and present a prize.

The student councillors are very proud to announce that we will be introducing a new Richmond badge. It will be called the Richmond Citizenship Badge. We are hoping the badge will be available to be earned as of the start of Term 4, (Please read the citizenship logbook for more information on the citizenship badges).

As you all know, Jeans for Genes Day was a great success! Overall, we managed to raise $547 and, had nearly everyone dressed in denim. Funds raised has gone towards helping fix genetic conditions affecting people throughout Australia.

The school Disco will be held at Fremantle Netball Association Courts, on the 1st of September 2023.

Students in Years 1-3 Disco starts at 5:00pm and finishes at 6:15pm.

Students in years 4-6 Disco will start at 7:00pm and finishes at 8:30pm.

There will be pizza music and lots of fun to be had!

On the same day as the Disco, Richmond’s Got Talent Show will be happening.

Thanks to the organising parent committee, parent volunteers and Mr Carder who ensured auditions for the talent show went smoothly.

A big thank you to our performers who ensured the acts were very enjoyable to watch.

Results will be announced to students on Monday 28 August. We will also publish the names of the performers who will continue into the Final Richmond’s Got Talent Show on Friday 1 September on the RGT Connect page.

Kind regards,

Henry Larkin and Bronte Ekin
