Welcome back, Richmond Primary School community, to what promises to be a bustling and exciting Term 4! We hope you all had a well-deserved break and are ready to dive into the final term of the year.
This week marked the beginning of some exciting events at our school. Our Year 1-3 students have already embarked on their swimming lessons at the Fremantle Aquatic Centre. It’s a fantastic opportunity for them to learn essential water skills and build confidence in the pool. We’re sure they’ll have a splashing good time!
For our Year 6 students, this term holds special significance as they prepare to transition to a variety of secondary schools next year. To kick off their last term at Richmond Primary School, they are eagerly anticipating a four-day camp at Point Peron. These action-packed days are sure to create lasting memories and strengthen friendships. It’s worth noting that keeping up with the energy of our Year 6 students can be tiring for even the most seasoned principals!
As we dive into Term 4, we encourage all students, parents, and staff to stay engaged and make the most of the opportunities this term has in store. There will be plenty of exciting activities, learning experiences, and achievements to celebrate along the way.
The calendar on the website will be updated when required as a priority and reminders of upcoming events will also be included in the weekly newsletter. As part of the ongoing review of communication processes we are concentrating on streamlining all communications via the newsletter where possible.
Parent Information Sessions
Sessions have been scheduled for the following dates and are designed to outline the term ahead and seek feedback from interested parents. The sessions are not exclusively for Parent Reps.
- Tuesday 24th 2.15pm to 3.00pm
- Friday 27th 9.00am to 9.45am and 2.15 pm to 3.00pm
Class Placements / Class Structures 2024
Over the next term we are looking at anticipated enrolments and possible schools’ structures for next year. The teachers will be guided by Placement Policy (attached) when assigning students to classrooms and will consider. Students’ academic, social and emotional needs.
Parent input regarding their child’s educational needs will be considered. Requests in relation to choose of teacher will not be considered as a placement factor.
You can request a copy of the policy in the school office.
Referendum Voting
The library will be open for voting tomorrow if you’d like to come down.
NEWS FROM THE CANTEEN
We are so excited to have 2 new members of our Canteen staff!
Casey Temby (mum of Will in Kindy & Beau in PP) & Alyce Chaney (mum of Koko in PP & Ava in Yr2) have joined Team Canteen.
As we all know the Canteen is a much loved and needed part of Richmond Primary School, it is also a lovely community hub for our kids…especially when their mum or dad are volunteering in the Canteen!
Please join us in welcoming Casey & Alyce to Team Canteen!
Swimming lessons for Yrs 1-3 Weeks 1-2:
Students can still order from the Canteen.
The Canteen will work around the lesson times to ensure students can have their recess either earlier or when they return to school.
The Monday menu will be simpler, and Wednesday menu will be changing as we re-organise to make sure we stick to the healthy food in schools’ policy. So please be patient as we get used to a new layout. And keep a lookout on Quickcliq for changes.
Student Council Messages
Wacky Hair Day to support Save the Children
On the 17th of November the Student Councillors will be hosting Wacky Hair Day to raise money for the charity called Save The Children. We are proudly doing this to help with the children across the world that don’t have rights and are not allowed to have a say in their actions. We researched this charity and found it is a good fundraiser to raise money for. This is purely because we were looking for a charity that can help children to feel comfortable about what they say. Please bring a gold coin donation on the 17th of November and have fun at school with your wacky hair.
Thankyou
Citizenship Badges
We are proud to announce that next week on Monday we will be introducing the Citizenship Badges to the school. To earn this badge, you will need to complete ten hours of community service, log your work in a brochure, get your parent/guardian signature. You will also need to log where and how long you did it for.
Anyone who is a Richmond student can earn the Citizenship Badge, (sorry parents!) not just the year 6’s. If you choose to dedicate 10 hours of your time giving back to the community, make sure there is at least one adult supervisor to ensure that you have indeed completed your tasks and can be awarded the citizenship badge.
From Henry Larkin and the student councillors. 😊
Magpie Alert
Please be aware that there are magpies swooping along Osbourne Road. Wear your hat and keep walking.
