Newsletter Term 4 Week 10

Final Newsletter

This week we farewelled our Yr 6 students who had led the school magnificently throughout the year. My thanks go out to Mrs Button and Mr Tifflin for all the work they have done in making the Yr.6 final year so memorable.

The outgoing students presented the present to school with a mural painted collaboratively  by Amanda Hart and the Yr: 6 students. The mural’s theme is the Wagul and the forming of the Derbal Yerrigan ( Swan River) the students area also represented around the edge of the mural.

My thanks also go out to all the staff who continue to focus on the students both academically and creating an inclusive culture. To our many volunteers we appreciate the ongoing support, which differentiates Richmond from many school communities.

On a personal note I would like to wish all families a wonderful holiday and I look forward to doing it all again in 2024. As a small gift the staff have produced a video with some very avaerage limp sinking for your entertainment

Go Well!

Principal for the Day

At the end of a long year, I brought in reinforcements with the Hopley sisters Georgia and Bronte becoming Principals for a Day. They did a superb job. The day started with the Yr.6 Assembly followed by a visit to Kindy and recess duty. They both spent time in office and had a well-earned sausage in a bun for lunch.

Class Visits

Class lists will be sent home via Connect. The students will be meeting the teachers today for a welcome visit.  The class placement process has been comprehensive with the following structures for 2024

K  PP P/1  Yr. 1  Yr. 2  Yr. 3  Yr. 4  Yr. 5 Yr. 6
3

We are a government school and we take all students from our catchment area so structures may change, however with the current enrolments this is unlikely.

Containers for Change

One of the easiest ways to support the school over the break is to drop off your recyclable bottles and cans into the two bins, which will be placed near the flagpoles and near the pre-primary alley. We have enlisted an awesome team of locals who will monitor the bins and will empty them when required.  Over the Festive Season I am sure we can raise funds for future play area for the students.  Green collection bags are available at todays Sundowner and a small tip from Mr Mack I’ll drop my recycling off early in the morning !!!

Apology

We have included an article on this year’s Richmond Has Talent competition. Due to an oversight, it should have been included in the Annual Report, which was distributed this week.

Richmond’s Got Talent

Richmond’s Got Talent is a wonderful annual event and process that gives artistic and creative kids a platform to express themselves. It holds a special place in our community because it inspires courage, resilience and camaraderie, while reminding us of the joy to be found in celebrating the creative talents and skills of our wonderful Richmond kids at every age.

This year saw a joint parent volunteer and staff approach through the planning, auditions and show.

The auditions were amazing with incredible entries across the categories of singing, dancing, music and variety. The courage, creativity and confidence shown by every student who auditioned is highly commended.

The judging panel of year 6 student councillors were so impressed by how entertaining and unique every act was, it made the finalists’ selection very challenging!

With auditions complete, and finalists selected, the last step was to plan and host the Richmond’s Got Talent show on Friday 1st September.

The audience was a-buzz and cheering loudly for our 18 awesome finalists. There were solo performers and groups made up of singers, dancers, comedians and musicians.

Our school captains Ava and Henry brought the razzle dazzle to hosting and our professional panel of year 6 student councillors – Abby, Bronte, Holly, Leo, Rohan, and Tom – watched every act intently while filling in the scoring criteria.

It was a brilliant high-energy show that left students, teachers and parents smiling from ear to ear.

Congratulations to our fabulous age-group winners, runners up and special mentions!
