It seems incredible that we are in December, which commences the Nyoongar season of Birak and the end of the school year is upon us. Birak season sees the rains ease up and the warm weather really starting to take hold. The afternoons are cooled by the sea breezes that abound from the southwest. This was the fire season, a time to burn the country in mosaic patterns.
Kindy Concerts
I had the pleasure of attending the Kindy Concert this morning which was sensational. One of the real joys of my work is watching proud parents watching their children perform. I must also shout out to Santa who almost stole the show even though he was missing his shoes. I am sure he will sort out the minor wardrobe misfunction prior to the big day on the 25th.
I would like to thank the entire team down at Kindy including Ellie Larkin for working with the students preparing them for the big day.
I am looking forward to the Yr 6 Graduation at the Swan Yacht Club on Thursday which is a highlight of the year. A full report with plenty of pictures will be in next week’s newsletter.
Year 4 Bike Excursion
This year bike safety has been taught by Mr Thorogood and Mrs Sorrell who gained accreditation earlier this year. I have enjoyed observing the program in action and having the expertise on staff is an added bonus. The program culminated in an excursion with a bike ride to Fremantle Prison and with lunch at Fishermans Harbour. The reports back were that the day was enjoyed by students, parents and all staff.
How to Get to Richmond Primary School
As a Your Move school we have been working with the Department of Transport to create a Safe Access Guide for students wishing to walk, scoot or ride to school with all routes assessed for potential hazards.
We invite you to take a look at the map and choose your preferred route to school.
Hard copies of this brochure are available at the school office.
Happy Travelling!
School Structures 2024
The staff have been working through the process of putting students in classes for 2024. They have met on several occasions working through a comprehensive process. Anticipated enrolments have increased, and a new transportable classroom will be located on site in first term next year. In the interim the staffroom will be converted back into a classroom with a Yr 6 Class moving there until the new classroom is ready to be used. We are working towards publishing class lists early in the last week with students having an opportunity to meet their new teachers.
Semester Reports
Student Reports will be sent out early in the last week via Connect as per our Reporting to Parents Policy.
Swimming Lessons
Dates for swimming lessons are decided by the Department and not by schools. That being said we are fortunate to have the Yr 4-6 Swimming Lessons fully staffed with Instructors as there is a massive shortage of qualified Swimming Instructors. We have made the decision to walk the 800 meters to the pool with consultation with staff and we will monitor the weather conditions over the next two weeks.
