Principal’s Update

I had the pleasure of attending the Year 6 Camp at Point Peron this week. The students participated in a variety of activities that challenged them and brought them together as a group. The annual camp is a highlight for the students and this year’s group represented Richmond PS magnificently.

I would like to acknowledge Mr Tifflin and Mrs Sachman for the marathon job of being on duty 24 hours a day for the four days of camp. They were ably assisted by Matt Sumner, Aoife Lannon and Brodie Ross, as well as members of school staff.

A full report of the Camp will be in an upcoming newsletter when all involved are well rested and are ready to tell us their stories.

Thank you to all involved.

Pp Assembly

This morning our Pp students from rooms 0 and 1 performed ‘Giraffes can’t Dance’.  Cuteness factor overload!  The students did a fabulous job of performing and showed us that EVERYONE can dance.

Thank you to our class parents for all the tasty treats that were available at the cake stall.

Tree Planting

The Town of East Fremantle responded to a request from our Student Leaders and donated seven trees to add to our campus.

This morning, several students from year 5 assisted the team from ToEF in digging holes and planting our new trees.

Supervision Before and After School

We appreciate the increased support of parents and carers in supervision of children before and after school. It’s made a big difference. Thank you!

Messages from the P&C

We are drawing to a close of term and the P and C is putting together the Colour Run on 25 November and Movie Night on 10 December to finish off the term.

Please find details below:

COLOUR RUN 25 November

All classes will be brought down to the oval at 2pm by their class teachers and will complete the course in staggered starts in their year groups. We are aware there are several year 3/4 students returning from a tennis competition that day. They can 100% still take part! They will be returning to school at 3pm and can be brought straight down to the oval and will be the last to complete the course. Parents and grandparents are all welcome to come and watch.

Here are just a few reminders for the day.

1. Children to bring a white t-shirt to change into and old trainers are preferred. Don’t forget a towel for the car!

2. Sponsorship forms have come home (spares can be obtained from the school office).

Please complete and return the sponsorship form to your child’s class teacher BEFORE the event. Prizes awarded for the child who raises the most money and the class who raises the most.  All payments preferred ONLINE at quickcliq.com.au (click on EVENTS) and to make our lives easier please do so by 25 November.

 Thank you!

3. Sausage sizzle and icy poles will be available from 3pm!!

MOVIE NIGHT 10 December

The movie this year will be “Minions: The Rise of Gru”. It will be our usual set up on the oval, so please bring picnic blankets and chairs. The pizza oven will be fired up- BYO pizza, plus popcorn will be available. Tickets will go on sale soon. All are welcome!

Thanks again to all our amazing volunteers for the Colour Run. The parent contribution is outstanding, and we are incredibly grateful.

See you next week, for a Friday which will certainly be colourful!

Lego League

This term has seen a group of year 4 and 5 Richmond students attend an after-school program that has introduced them to the FIRST LEGO League Challenge. While the primary activities of FIRST LEGO League Challenge are often thought to be the ‘Robot Game’ and ‘Innovation Project’, the program focuses on the third (and we believe, the most crucial) aspect of the program; ‘Core Values‘, where all activities are premised on participants demonstrating the concepts of ‘Gracious Professionalism’ and ‘Co-opertition’. This is intended to actively promote positive social and emotional learning outcomes for participants and foster their development into not only STEAM-literate young people but, perhaps most importantly, into the empathetic, ethically minded and critically thinking young people to whom we will be handing the reins of the future.

We’d like to invite Richmond families to attend the FIRST LEGO League National District Championships at Curtin University on Saturday 10th December 2022. It is guaranteed to be a festival type atmosphere with costumes, silly hats, team chants, mascots and more. If you’d like to book a ticket, please click on the link below. Feel free to ask Mr Townsend in room 13 for additional information.
