Principal’s Update

In my first year at Richmond, I’ve enjoyed watching the Year 6 cohort school lead the student body and continue the rich history that is built on values that reflect the school.

Last night our Year 6 students had their graduation ceremony. Graduation was a fitting celebration of the students’ time together, which for many of them commenced at kindergarten. I would like to extend my thanks to the staff involved in organizing the event and for all the staff who contributed to their education.

We see parents as partners at Richmond PS and I would like to thank the committee who raised funds for the night and to those parents who organized and decorated the venue in true Richmond style.

Some of the parents attending last night will end their association with the school next week and have contributed to the life of our school.

I thank you for your commitment and dedication in assisting the staff to deliver a quality program. Naming individuals is always problematic, so you know who you are, and my thanks go out to you all. Aoife you have been a ripper!

This week our Year 3 students had a wonderful time visiting Perth Zoo. I’ve also been to see our youngest students in Kindy perform their Christmas Concerts. Cuteness personified! Most of the children I’ve spoken with, they are excited about coming up to the ‘big’ school for Pre-primary next year.

I would also like to wish our students and families who will be leaving Richmond at the end of this year all the very best for your future endeavours.

Class lists

Class lists will be finalised early next and will be sent out via Connect. As per last year there is a planned Orientation Session for students entering years 1 – 6 in 2023, next Thursday. This will be happening at 12:40 – 1:10pm.  These sessions are designed to introduce students to new teachers and classmates. The staff have followed the Class Placement Policy when making decisions and relation to placing students in classes.

Reports

Reports will be sent home on Wednesday next week at 3:00pm via Connect. It has been pleasing to observe the progress that many students have made this semester.

Annual Report

Each family will receive a copy of the 2022 Annual Report early next week. The magazine style report is a showcase of the breadth of programs in place at Richmond. The Annual Report also outlines the self-assessment against targets set out in the Business Plan. The financial component will be added in first term when the full Annual Report will be published on the school’s website.

Movie Night

Just a reminder that the Movie Night will be held on the School Oval on Saturday 10 December from 530pm.  The pizza oven will be fired up, so families can BYO pizzas to cook or just pack a picnic and kick back on the oval for the evening… plus there will be free popcorn for the kids!!  The movie this year is…. Minions: The Rise of Gru and will start about 715pm.  Tickets are just $20 per family and available now on TidyHQ, via the link below.  So grab your ticket and we’ll see you there!

Farewell Miss Scott

Next week Miss Scott will be leaving Richmond to follow her artist passion down south. I would like to acknowledge Miss Scott’s contribution over the past 26 years as an Art Specialist and wish her all the best for her new venture in Bremer Bay.

Foodbank

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Foodbank appeal.

We received over 700 items, with Room 3 Families being our greatest contributors.

Thanks

We will send out further Connect updates if required, however this will be the last Principal’s Update for the year. I would like to wish all families all the best for the upcoming holiday and thank you for your support of the school. I have enjoyed my first year at Richmond and look forward to working with the School Community in 2023.
