The term is well underway and getting busy with the first assembly being held this morning. Josh Kelly welcomed the students back for the year by talking to them about the spiritual connection to country, and he conducted a smoking ceremony. It was a fitting way to start the school year and Josh will be back later in the year as part of the schools ongoing commitment to cultural inclusion at Richmond.
The calendar of events is also filling fast with Parent Meetings, Edu Dance, commencing this week with concerts scheduled for later in the term.
I understand that many parents have also requested interviews with teachers, which can be made upon request with individual teachers.

BUNURU – Pronounced Boon – a -roo
Bunuru is known as the second summer encompassing the months of February and March. This is the hottest time of the year with little to no rain. It’s often represented by the colour orange.
It signifies very hot, late afternoon winds from the south; dry, long days and short nights. During this season, Noongar people camped near the coast, rivers and lakes and ate freshwater and sea animals.
SWIMMING TRIALS for the upcoming House Swimming Carnival (Year 4-6)
We will be conducting our optional time trials on Wednesday 22 February at Fremantle College from 4pm until 5pm. Parents will be required to supervise their child during the trials. The pool can be access via Anne St, Beaconsfield. Access is free of charge. Students may trial for one, two or all three strokes (Backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle).
All year 4 -6 students have the opportunity to compete in freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke events. It is important to put all children into the correct division for each stroke. You have the option of supplying a time or attending our school swimming trials.
Please click here for a permission slip.
House Swimming Carnival

Recycled Uniforms
We are looking for a couple of parents to take over the running of the uniform stall, or a parent to coordinate a roster of parents to run the recycled uniform stall; this will be with the help of our year 6 Environment Team who can help out on assembly days.
- Sorting new donations
- Assisting students with removing and attaching new labels
- Setting up and putting away uniform stall on assembly days
- Collecting gold coin donations for the P&C
- Taking orders for uniform items not currently in stock
- Occasionally you may have to wash items before putting them out for sale.
Please email or call Lara if you are interested.
Marathon Club & Just for Run Club
Our morning Running and Marathon Clubs start in week 3.

Information and the permission slip
Bike Racks
Our new bike racks were installed on the northern side of the tennis court today.
Please could you remind your child/children that bikes and scooters can no longer be placed around the library area. We will unlock the gates on both sides of the tennis courts in the afternoons to stop the bottleneck of students trying to exit one gate (which we discovered today).
