Swimming Carnival

Thank you to all our Year 4 -6 participants and parent volunteers who made the event run smoothly; it was perfect weather and a great competition. We had a huge response when we asked for more participants, and it was great to see all abilities participate. Well done, Richmond.

The presentation will be at 9:00am on Monday in the undercover area. Parents are most welcome to attend.

We have some swimming bags and towels that were left either at the pool or on the bus. These can be collected from the front office on Monday.

Your Move – Ride2School

Richmond Primary School is proud to be part of the Department of Transport’s ‘Your Move’ program that inspires students to get active by walking, scooting and riding to school when and if possible.

We are promoting the message that students and their families who make their journey to school healthy, fun and engaging by walking, scooting or riding together have a great start to the day.  This has the added benefit of helping the environment and decreasing traffic, making it safer around our school.

To mark our first Active Travel Day, Richmond PS is participating in National Ride2School Day on Friday March 24 with students encouraged to ride, scoot, skate or walk to school.

Dogs at Richmond PS

There has been an increased ranger presence at the school in the mornings due to reports of dogs being exercised on the school oval.  Richmond PS would like to remind our school community that no dogs are permitted on the school grounds.  This includes at morning drop off and afternoon pick up.  There have been several recent instances of dogs being left tethered to benches or fences inside the school grounds, some of whom have become anxious.

In the interest of student safety, we request that if dogs are brought to school, they are kept to outside the school boundary and supervised at all times.

Photos

Photos were taken this week.  Your child/children should have brought home a small flyer from Kapture Photograpy.  This has their name and unique student identifier on it.  Please can you check their bags and homework folders if they haven’t given it to you.  Late fees will apply if photos are ordered after Monday 20 March.

Dilert   Pronunciation Dil-ert.

Dilert means Blue Tongue Lizard

The Lizard is a powerful spiritual animal that teaches us to make the right choices and awaken and develop our intuition, to give our life the value it deserves.

Harmony Day – Wear Orange to School

We will be celebrating Harmony Day on Tuesday 21 March by wearing orange to school.  Students will be completing activities in class for Harmony Week.

Message from our Student Leaders

As most of you are aware we recently had bike racks installed on the basketball courts.  This initiative has significantly reduced congestion at the front gate.  Please could you remind your child/children not to ride their bikes on the courts and for them to enter either through the big gates on Coolgardie Avenue or through the small gate at the northern end of the courts on Windsor Road.

From the P&C

Hi Richmond Families

We are looking forward to a fun-filled year ahead!

Thank you to all the wonderful parents from each class who have volunteered as parent class representatives!

The Easter Bun-raiser is already well underway with funds raised going towards the upgrade & refurbishment of the junior school Art Storage Wall outside Room 4.

Term 1 is nearly over. Please keep an eye out for more P&C community & fundraising events in term 2, including a Kindy Parents’ Sundowner currently being organised – more info soon!

News from the canteen

Our new lunch order baskets where delivered this week thanks to the P&C & Bunnings!

The old baskets really needed replacing as they were starting to break apart.

So far, the students are loving the new baskets so much so that year 2 room 11 & year 6 room 14 have already decorated theirs!

Watch this space for the upcoming canteen ‘cold treat’ award for best manners!
