Principal’s Update

Kaya

With only two weeks left before the holidays, the school is a hive of activity.

This afternoon, Lisa O’Malley MLA will be at the Windsor Road school entrance. Lisa has been assisting us with highlighting the issue around not having a school crossing guard on Canning Highway this term.  She is happy to speak with parents and the community about this issue.

Public School Review

Richmond Primary school recently completed an external performance review conducted by the Department of Education.

All Western Australian public schools are reviewed by the Department of Education’s Public School Accountability directorate. A review gives assurance to the local community, the Minister for Education and Training and the Director General about the performance of public schools in delivering high quality education to students. The review acknowledges the achievements of the school and gives feedback to support the Principal and staff with their improvement planning (Public School Review Process, DoE, WA).

External Public School Reviews are conducted regularly usually on a 3 year cycle. The recent review at Richmond PS involved direct input from the staff, School Board members, P&C members, students and representatives from our Town Council.

We are very proud of the commendations contained in the report. This reflects the commitment and hard work shown by our students, parents and teachers in making this a truly great school.

We are very pleased to a provide the following link for you to read the review.

We would like to request that parents who attending refrain from taking vehicles onto the oval. We have spent the last week urgently organising the repair of the damaged bore. Thank you for your understanding.

The final two weeks of this term is jammed pack with excursions and incursions. A few of the events are listed below:

Week 9 events

All our year 4 HaSS (History and Social Sciences) students are off to visit our local Town Council. This is excursion will give them a better insight into the importance of our local council and the roles and responsibilities it carries out daily.

A group of year 5 & 6 students are off to the District Cricket and Mod-crosse carnival at Tompkins Park on Tuesday, 28 April.  A huge thank you to all the staff and students who have given up their time to train for the event.

Mrs Bertolini has organised a music incursion for the entire school on Thursday, 30 March. Kaboom is a tremendous interactive performance that compliments the amazing percussion program the students have been enjoying all term long with their regular music lessons.

Students from rooms 12, 9, 4, 5 and 13 are looking forward to the West Oz Wildlife incursion on Friday,  31 March. They will have the opportunity see and perhaps hold some special wildlife.

The entire school has been very busy all term preparing for their Edu-Dance concert. There will be two concerts scheduled for week 10. Both concerts are scheduled to commence at 2.15 pm in the undercover area. Tuesday’s concert (4 April) will see rooms 5, 7, 0, 9, 15, 6, 10 and 14 perform. Wednesday’s concert (5 April) rooms 13, 2, 8, 12, 3, 4, 2 and 11 will show us their moves. Parents are most welcome!

Message from the Canteen

Meet our Wednesday team!

From left to right – Ros, Lauren, Stewart, Matthew & Ryan.

On Wednesday’s during term, Ros receives help from Matthew and Ryan. Both are students from the Leeming SHS education support centre. Matthew will be graduating year 12 this year & Ryan is completing year 11. Lauren & Stewart are education assistants who support both the boys. Lucky for our school community they all love helping Ros in the canteen!

Started in 1996 the Leeming SHS ESC supports senior school students with varying abilities & talents. Over the years, ongoing relationships with 126 local businesses & community/government organisations have been built – including Richmond Primary school!

Don’t forget to say hi next time you come to the canteen.

Hi…From the P&C

Thank you so much to all who have supported the hot cross bun-raiser, we obviously all know that Lawley’s bakery makes the most delicious hot cross buns! A very big thank you to Anita Radich for organising what is undoubtedly the yummiest fundraiser of the year!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone after school on Tuesday, 4 April when you can collect your order. The P&C with help from Yr 6 students will be set up outside the front of the library, happily we have quite a number of orders to be collected so please leave yourself enough time. Any orders that not collected will be stored at school overnight & parents can contact Lara (front office) to organise collection the following day.

Thanks to the DoRKs the annual dad’s & kid’s camp is this Saturday night on the school oval. This is a wonderful event with fun-filled activities & a big, cooked breakfast in the morning.

Please remember to bring some home-grown flowers &/or greenery to school on Thursday 6 April for the school’s ANZAC day assembly.
