Principal’s Update

It’s hard to believe we’re almost at the end of term 2. Week 9 has been a very busy and exciting week for Richmond Primary students and their families with Cross Country, Edu Dance and Richmond’s Got Talent auditions.

Cross Country

The weather, competition and atmosphere made for a great cross country on Tuesday.  I would like to acknowledge Mr Thorogood and Mr Carder for organising this very successful event. We are looking forward to seeing the winners compete in both the Interschool and State events next term. A big thank you to the Town of East Fremantle Rangers and our team of volunteer parents for helping keep our students safe whilst walking to and from the event, and for setting up the coffee!

Edu-dance Concerts

It was fantastic to see the talent on display from PP to Yr 6 in the Edu dance concerts this week. One of the highlights for me was to observe the younger students watch our older students perform. I also saw several parents and Mr Tifflin working on their moves to sounds of previous years.

Reports

School reports will be sent home electronically via Connect next Wednesday. If you haven’t got access to Connect, please could you send an email to richmond.ps@education.wa.edu.au and request a Connect reset.  This has been a challenging semester with reduced attendance due to COVID and other ailments and many teachers have already spoken with parents to discuss progress prior to the reports being sent home.  Parents are invited to make appointments with teachers as part of the Reporting to Parents policy; with staff also requesting to meet with parents where required.

Congratulations

Max Mansfield has been awarded the Brother Patrick Kelly music scholarship at CBC Fremantle for guitar. The family also want to acknowledge Mrs Bertolini for her ongoing support of Max.

Lightning Carnival – Years 5 and 6 Students Netball/AFL/Soccer

This event has been rescheduled for Wednesday 29 June after being postponed in week 8 due to poor weather.

If your child is participating, please make sure their canteen lunch order is cancelled for Wednesday.

Final Assembly for Term 2 – Richmond’s Got Talent

On Friday 1 July our Richmond’s Got Talent finalists will perform for us.  Auditions have been taking place for several weeks and we clearly have some very talented students. Most finalists were told today, and their families will be notified early next week.  We will put a list up of finalists in Reception.

Along with merit certificates, certificates will also be going out to our Italian Festival Competition 2022 finalists.

John Curtin College of the Arts (JCCA) Enrolment Forms – Year 6 Students

Enrolment forms for JCCA have been handed to students who indicated they will be attending JCCA in 2023.  Additional enrolment forms are available and can be collected from our office or directly from JCCA.

Applications to enrol need to be submitted to JCCA as soon as possible, including if your child has been offered a placement in one of their programs.

Please click here for further information.

Recycled Clothing

Our dedicated Environment Team and Mrs Sachman will open the Recycled Uniform stall before assembly at 8:30am on Friday 1 July.  Items are available for a gold coin donation.

If you can’t attend the stall, please email us at richmond.ps@education.wa.edu.au and let us know what items and sizes you require. Please include your child’s name, room number and your name and contact phone number in the email.

Lost Property

We have had mountains of lost property over the past few weeks and very little of it is being collected by students. This often takes over an hour per day to sort out. Many of the items misplaced are either un-named or have the names of former students on them.  Please could you make sure your child’s belongings are named correctly.

If your child is repeatedly leaving items around the school grounds and not collecting them from where they left them or from the Lost Property tub (located outside the library) in a timely manner, we will be sending a note home for parents to sign and return. Some students may end up having to write a paragraph to Mr Mack explaining to him the importance of looking after belongings.

All un-named items in lost property that aren’t collected by the end of next week will go to either our Recycled Uniform stall or to a local charity shop.
