Bravo the Peace Peeps
Harmony Day was a sea of orange with the harmony message being reinforced in classrooms with students participating in activities that supported the key message. $673.40 was raised and will go to World Vision and the QLD Flood Relief.
It is also fantastic that groups of students took it upon themselves to organise fundraisers out of school time supporting the victims of the war in the Ukraine. The recently formed “Peace Peeps” held a cake stall (first photo attached), Annika and Pearl had a lemonade stand and Asha and Julia sold bookmarks. It is a great message for all our students of the importance of giving back to the community. I must admit I was a little upset that there were no cakes for the staff to purchase, however I am sure the Peace Peeps will deliver!
Air Conditioning Update
A power audit is being conducted to determine if the site has capacity for installation of split systems in the future. In the interim, all existing units have been serviced and refurbished to hopefully alleviate problems when the heat returns. Further information will be sent out after the audit with a plan shared with the School Board.
Playground
The new playground which replaces the aging play equipment next to the oval has been ordered for installation hopefully starting in the July holidays. Thanks goes to the P&C who funded the project with a cost of over $ 30 000.
World Mathematics Day
The Teams from Miss Sherman’s Year 4/5 Class and Mrs Sorrell’s Year 4 Class took on the world today in the Mathletics World Challenge competing with students around the globe. The competition was fast and furious with the team from Richmond PS performing extremely well. It was also great to see three of our students Stella, Luella and Alex who are currently in isolation joining the event and supporting the team.
It has been good to see that our students in isolation have regular contact with the class teachers and the programs are continuing at home while isolating.
Message from the Peace Peeps
Thank you to all that contributed towards our event. A big thank you to all the parents. We couldn’t have it without you. All the money raised is going to help 28 Ukrainian refugees to get to France and help them settle into a new home. All four of us, Ella, Niamh, Aya and Lua are proud to help Jade, a kind local who has travelled to the boarder of Ukraine and without her none of this would have happened. Thank you Jade! We hope the 28 refugees make it to France safely.
We are very proud to have raised the $674.00. Thank you to all the people who helped. A Big Thank you to The Dance Collective, Ella’s dance school for contributing to this event.
In June we will be holding another cake stall for education of children in need.
Effort, hope, initiative, and resilience is what made this wonder happen! The Peace Peeps will strike again!
