Website
This school website is the main source of general information and is updated every day. Please let us know if you feel information is missing.
Newsletter, Facebook and calendar
A newsletter, Facebook feed and schedule of events are updated regularly on the landing page of this website to keep parents up to date on current news and events.
Connect
We use CONNECT as a portal for sharing information between teachers and home. Teachers write to parents regularly. This is also where student semester reports are housed. Go to: connect.det.wa.edu.au
Every parent has a CONNECT account and will be emailed a password, which can be reset upon request at any time.
We encourage parents to download the CONNECT Now app, so that you only need log in once. Click here to access info about the CONNECT Now App. CONNECT Now_App
Reports and follow up interviews
Parents of students in years PP-6 receive a DOE System Summative Report at the end of each semester. In addition, in semester 2, students in years 3 and 5 will receive a NAPLAN report showing individual progress against national standardized bench marks for the year level in literacy and numeracy. Kindergarten children receive a portfolio each semester and a DOE System Summative Report at the end of the year. Parent interviews are held following reports (early in term 1 and term 3)
Interviews
An interview may be requested by teachers or parents at any time. Please contact the teacher via the front office on 9438 8700 or via email to make an appointment. Parents are offered two formal interview times per year as above to discuss their child’s progress. By the end of week 3 in term 1 all parents will have been given the opportunity to meet with the class teacher.
Have a question?
Parents have a number of avenues to ask questions. Emails or calls will be directed to the most appropriate person to respond as soon as possible.
- Email the school on Richmond.PS@education.wa.edu.au. This will be received by the principal, deputies, business manager and reception. The most appropriate person will respond quickly.
- Email the P&C president Michelle Spanninga – detailwa@me.com This will either be answered by the P&C or where appropriate forwarded to the school.
- Email the board chair Matthew Rose on melb.matthew@gmail.com . This will either be answered by the board or where appropriate forwarded to the school.
- Email your child’s class teacher, who will respond quickly.
- Bring your question to the general P&C meeting, where the principal holds Q&A sessions
By way of a guide:
Operational questions should be directed to the school.
Questions about P&C events or programs (for example canteen, school banking, scholastic, DoRKS) should be directed to the P&C.
Questions regarding board business should be directed to the board (see the board webpage).
Questions regarding your child should be directed first to their class teacher, and subsequently to the school.
Examples of recent questions and who would respond:
Can we have long sleeved shirts (school dress is determined by the board)
Should school banking be discontinued? (this is a P&C program)
How much money did we raise at the big breakfast (this is a P&C event)
Can year 4 do edudance? (this is a school operational item)
Can year 5 go on camp? (this is a school operational item)
Can lunchtime be earlier? (this is a school operational item)
Can we have a school disco? (this is a P&C event)
Can we change the house names to indigenous names? (this is a school operational decision, but would need to be discussed by the P&C and board first to gauge parent opinion)
Can we move the rose garden? (this is a school operational decision, but would need to be discussed by the P&C and board first to gauge parent opinion)
