All students at Richmond Primary School do two hours of physical education a week. One hour is with our Physical Education Specialist. Students also participate in a number of faction sports carnivals at school. We provide extension in sport via inter-school competitions. We also run a before school running club.
Swimming
Richmond students from years 1-6 have two weeks of swimming lessons.
The school and interschool carnivals for year 4-6 students are in term 1&2 each year.
Richmond Primary School is the 2019 division A interschool swimming meritorious shield holder.
Cross country
Richmond students from year 3-6 participate in our faction cross country carnival in term 2. Students from years 4-6 represent the school at the interschool carnival. We have a strong history in cross-country.
Richmond Primary School was the 2018 interschool cross country meritorious shield holder. We have won this trophy eight times since 2008.
Many students train at our popular before-school Richmond Running Club.
Winter sports
During term 3, upper primary students from years 4-6 compete in interschool sport in soccer, AFL (2011 and 2015 AFL interschool champions) and netball. We compete over the term with local schools.
Richmond Primary School is the 2019 interschool AFL Champion School and the 2018 interschool soccer Champion School.
Cricket
In term 4, students from years 5 and 6 participate in an interschool cricket carnival with local schools.
Richmond Primary School year 6 boys are the 2018 ‘A division’ champions.
Athletics
During term 3, all students participate in athletics training. Our school carnival for pre-primary to year 6 students is at the end of term 3 and the champion athletes from years 3-6 go on to represent the school at the interschool carnival in term 4.
Richmond Primary School is the 2018 interschool athletics meritorious shield holder and 2019 Champion School.
